ICASEA - Benefit For Japan Compilation
I can’t believe I missed this awesome compilation, and I’m following so many artists on this one. ICASEA put out this 75 track compilation for the tsunami and earthquake victims. Yeah you read it correctly 75!!! And so many outstanding artists contributed to this it’s incredible. Just to name a few Autechre, Luke Vibert, Ichiro, Mesak, Geskia, Freeform, Mogwai, Sir Froderick, Ahnnu, … and so many more.
The minimum they charge is 7£ or 8€ or 11,5$ and you get like 4hours of music. But don’t esitate to donate more if you like it! At this price it benefits you as well!

Storms - Remixed
This very enjoyable remix EP for the NYC band, Storms just got released today. You’ll find remixes of an handful of astonishing worldwide producers like Aus (JP), Hamacide (US/CN), Patten (UK), My Dry Wet Mess (IT) and Leb Laze (US). Storms are Lori Scacco (Eastern Developments, Plancha, Too Pure) and Eva Puyelo (Savath y Savalas, Warp). The originals are songs that appear on the album “Lay Your Sea Coat Aside” (Plancha/Art Union). Check it out for a journey to the other side.
Urban Waves the new blog formula!
As you may have noticed Urban Waves blog has taken a new turn since March 2011. Now you’ll find a daily selection of links to free music (most of the time). You can get down your horses, I assure you, we’re not one of these blogs linking to pirate MP3’s on russian upload websites. What I share is legit, music given for free by the artists/labels themselves under as many forms as they get. Albums, Ep’s, Beat Tapes, Mix Tapes, Compilations, Remixes, Bootlegs, Podcasts, and sometimes video’s too.
There are many net labels, collectives and networks. A lot of artists give out their music for free. And if you ask me, it would be a waste not to take it.
I’ll try to focus on new releases now, but sometimes older ones may appear too. This blog will be my repertoire, my selected bag of goodies. A catalogue of 1000 (free) wonders.
I’m confident that I can bring new sound in your life, and if you like my taste in music, even make your days brighter!
